Everyone is welcome here

Accessibility statement.

We’re a voice for the voiceless - and that means our website should work for everyone, including people who use assistive technology. Here’s our commitment, and how to reach us if something gets in your way.

We believe access is a matter of dignity. The same conviction that guides our programs guides this website: no one should be left out.

The Beautiful Foundation is committed to making thebeautifulfdn.ca accessible to as many people as possible, regardless of ability, device, or the technology they rely on to browse the web. We treat accessibility as ongoing work, not a checkbox - and we welcome your help in getting it right.

What we aim for

We work toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA - the internationally recognized standard for accessible websites. As an Ontario organization, we also keep the goals of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) in mind.

What we’ve built in

  • Clear, consistent structure using proper headings and landmarks, so screen readers can navigate with ease
  • A “skip to main content” link and full keyboard navigation for people who don’t use a mouse
  • Visible focus outlines so you always know where you are on the page
  • Colour combinations chosen for strong contrast and readability
  • Descriptive text alternatives for meaningful images
  • A responsive layout that adapts to phones, tablets, and desktops
  • Respect for the “reduce motion” setting, so animations calm down when you ask them to

Where we’re still improving

We’re honest about the fact that accessibility is never “finished.” Some parts of the site rely on third-party tools - such as the embedded map and our donation form - whose accessibility we don’t fully control. We review these regularly and choose the most accessible options available to us.

If you come across anything that’s hard to use, we want to know. Your feedback directly shapes what we fix next.

Tell us about a barrier

If any part of this website is difficult to access, please reach out. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and the device or assistive technology you were using - and we’ll do our best to help and to fix it.
